I began my counselling career training as an integrative psychotherapist in 2002. I later went on to train more specifically to work with children and adolescents and then families. As an integrative therapist I use a blend of models and tools to help you explore your current situiation, how you may have got there and to look at the road ahead.
I enjoy the wealth of knowledge and possibilities to understand ourselves which come from the different models, such as Narrative work, Transactional Analysis, CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Gestalt and Psychodynamic therapy. This allows our work to be led by your needs, not a sole academic aspect.
I have experience with drug and alcohol counselling, counselling in schools, couples counselling, family work, Integrative Counselling with refugees and unaccompanied minors and using interpreters in the therapeutic setting. I have also prepared and delivered parenting training and workshops to families in Sussex and regularly provide training for services supporting the homeless in Brighton and Hove.
I am a down to earth practitioner who enjoys helping people overcome issues in their lives and use their experiences to grow.
For issues including but not limited to:
- Relationship breakdown
- Grief/loss
- Identity
- Life planning
- Cultural issues
- Therapy with interpreters
